Program Overview

  • - In accordance with Article 6 of the Libraries Act (Assistance to Bridge Knowledge and Information Gap) and Article 12-2 of the Reading Culture Promotion Act (Guarantee of Opportunities to Enable Underprivileged Readers to Engage in Reading Culture Activities), the National Library for the Disabled annually provides public libraries with assistive reading devices tailored to different types of disabilities. This program aims to improve accessibility and enhance the quality of library services for persons with disabilities.

Program Period: 2009 – Present

  • - Eligible Institutions: Public libraries and libraries for persons with disabilities nationwide
  • - Implementation Process : Announcement and application (open call for libraries participating in the Reading Assistive Technology Program) →
    Screening and selection → Installation of reading assistive devices and training
